Born in London, Ontario, Canada
Was given a copy of Linux and told about the power of the Python programming language, in a chance encounter with a blind programmer.
Took classes on Visual Basic, Photoshop, and business applications at Clarke Road High School.
Started building websites as a hobby, using programs like Front-Page Express and iWeb. Later progressed to using content management systems and learning to code by templates.
Enrolled in the Multi-Media Design & Production(now Interactive Media) program at Fanshawe College. A two year program which combines courses in design and visual imaging, coding/scripting technologies, marketing and media management.
Created the branding for PhilipK.ca in an Image and Perception class taught by John Bennett.
Was selected to participate in the 2011 Summer Company Program. Particiated in the creation of a business plan and marketing strategy for a web development company. Was offered a summer position helping launch a new website at Fanshawe College and left the program early in order to accept the position.
During the summer of 2011, was hired to help with the launching of a new website for Fanshawe College. Participated in the creation of content, fixing errors, and providing technical support.
While working at Fanshawe College was recommended by a collegue to a group looking to start a web start up. Was the primary developer, designer, and consultant for the group in the creation of a social media site called Open Calendars. The website is still running and is now rebranding as LiddleFoot.
In September and October of 2011 worked with CScreative in the creation of several projects. Including an iPad-web-app intended for 3M employees selling tools to automotive manufactures, and a PDF generator built to easily create product order forms by selecting from a list products.
